When Aamir Khan’s name gets associated with project it means you are going to get something unusual either in the story or in treatment. In Delhi belly’s case treatment is far from the regular cinema. End result is the movie is captivating throughout with little blemishes and abusive language is used to enhance the realistic treatment.
Story: Three friends lives on rent in chawl kind of a room . All of them are professionally well placed. Imran is a journalist, Vir Das is a cartoonist and Kunal Roy Kapoor is photographer. All three have personal problems to get rid off. Imran has a dumb fiance who care more about her father’s car rather than her fiance. Vir das’s girlfriend dumped him to an other guy and biggest one is with Kunal who suffered food poisoning by eating unhygienic chicken from streets of red light area and to enhance it he ran out of water to wash his_. Now the common problem for them is a gangster Vijay Raaz whose diamonds accidentally gets into the hands of three musketeers. Now watch the movies to check out the antiques of the three .
Analysis: Movie starts off slowly with introduction of all characters but as the length of movie is short it reaches the point quickly. Hereafter the pace is too fast to think but screenplay is well crafted and editing is too good which makes thing easy for you to understand. Delhi Belly is not a slapstick neither it is an intelligent movie. Humor comes in the form of situations and by the brilliant performance from principal cast. Lot have been said about the language and adult treatment but to me they have use it inteligentally at most of the places . You do feel in real life also these characters uses these kind of language only and if someone make his child to watch Delhi Belly than it’s his fault. One or two scenes are surely forced there to show that movie is bold( one where Imran is having it with Shenaz and red light area scene) otherwise all such scenes seems to be part of narrative.
Performance: Delhi Belly like all other Aamir’s movie does not have a one hero. All actors have equal screen time and all have done more than just justice to their roles. Imran looked good and underplayed his part well . It seems with his looks and dialogues that Aamir has resisted his character so that imran can fit in it. Kunal Roy and Vir Das are outstanding in their roles . Both made you laugh by just their expressions and voice. They both will go further from hereon. Now the one who is life of Delhi Belly and that is Vijay Raaz. He handled his character brilliantly. His make-up, dialogue delivery and expressions everything is perfect. His dialogues are not intended to be funny but at the situation they brought house down. Rest of the cast has little to do and they did well.
Music: Songs are not part of a movie they are just used in background. Bhag D.K bose is awesome in background as it does lift the narrative and penchar is also used in background on many occassions and it too seems fit.
Direction: Personally I liked his Abhinay Deo’s first effort The Game but it was not accepted by audience but this time he hits the jackpot . His handling of sequences and characters was awesome. All characters looked the part of movie. Building up of events to finale he never let the grip to get loose.
Finally; Not for kids strictly and for adults its a must watch movie . If you mind the abusive language and some never seen before adult scenes in Indian cinema don’t go otherwise just go for it.
