Orange Juice for life...pun intended!

Amidst all the hoopla involving the infamously famous a certain D.K.Bose which stirred a nationwide controversy about the language content(read abusive words) of the songs, a group of us landed up in a theater primarily motivated by the same set of songs to watch the movie.

Plot: (This may contain story references and spoilers)

The Story revolves around 3 friends Arup(Vir Das), Tashi(imran Khan) and Nitin(Kunal Roy Kapoor) leading their typical routine lives in Delhi until Tashi’s Fiance(Shenaz) lands up in their house with a package that she picked up for a friend via an old "firangi" guy at the airport. Needless to say the package contains 30 illegal diamonds(that none of the idiots are aware of)which is to be delivered at a specific address. The friends play passing the parcel with each other and Arup finally ends up delivering the package since Nitin is suffering from the proverbial Delhi belly. The packages are switched with something unmentionable which leads to Vijay Raaz and his henchmen to screw the happiness from the trio’s lives till they supply him with the diamonds and juggling their rent woes, love lives, affairs and break ups.

The Good:

  1. Although the plot is exceedingly simple the short duration of the movie convinces the movie goer that a plethora of sub plots and parallel story lines are going on.

  2. Despite of Mamu Jaans backing Imran Khan is given more or less an equal footing in the movie and he does a decent job of the swearing scenes despite his goody goody image

  3. Vijay Raaz is such a revelation that every frame with him in the scene is kool and funny. He brings about a sophisticated Rajpal Yadav feel to the movie as is convincing as the evil Villain with extremely funny torture techniques.

  4. The swearing in the movie is just in your face and prevalent throughout the movie so much so that you start to read between the "gaalis" and laugh out guiltless at the humour in the scene. Personally the swearing is so much Mumbaiyya that it found an instant connect to me.

The Bad:

  1. There should have been some glimpses of the Bhaag DK bose and Switty songs along with the "Panchar" song.

The Ugly:

For all the prudes and hypocrites(no offense) who believe that the swearing is too much:

I believe that the swearing is what would be prevalent between guys living out as room mates in suburban Delhi/Bombay in India. Here the swearing is used as a term of endearment or friendly banter between the guys or when Vijay Raaz gives a mouthful to his henchman when they are screwing around .

The Verdict:

This movie is targeting the demographic of people in metros and in the age group of 18-30 simply because the Uncle and Aunty gang who watch Saas Bahu serials at home would be scandalised at the opening scene when a butt crack is visible and be frowning throughout the movie. For anyone who can look past that, this movie would be on your minds till the next Delhi Belly comes along.
