I’ll try to keep this review to the point.
Food quality: Rumaali Roti was good. Nan was good. Chicken Patiala, which was one of the "dishes of the day" not good, as the boneless chicken pieces felt slightly rubbery, not adequately soft.
Biryani Rice ( Yellow and White Rice with a little bit of saffron) was ok. chicken sandwitch( Chicken, Mayonnaise and some greens) was also ok. Contrary to my expectations, the food
here is nothing extraordinary, I have had much better mughlai at the humble Shalimar restaurant in Kurla.
Prices: Affordable-Moderate. Most of the chicken gravies were in the range of 100-150.
Biryani rice was just 35 bucks. Rumaali Roti was 17 bucks, Chicken Sandwitch was 50 bucks.
I dont remember abt the Nan.
Portions/Quantity: One plate (of most dishes) serves 2. Dont be fooled by the tiny looking handis they serve in. They’re deeper than they look.
Ambience, crowd: Its dimly lit, brown-orange-beige colours are the dominant colours here.You’ll find a lot of foreigners here. The waiters are dressed in some kind of Arabian dress.
I had expected the place to be nice, quiet and sortof...elegant, but was disappointed.The tables are too close to one another. You can hear what other people are talking. They play loud annoying
instrumental music, to add the din in the already small space. Add to this the TV playing
some weird silent videos/advertisements, I dont knw for whom. The waiters all stand in a group,
busy chitchatting rather than looking if someone needs anything. The service was "Bad".Twice
we had to wave to a waiter for water, our table was cluttered with extra dishes, napkins etc that we didnt need, but no one bothered to remove those. The bill too arrived later than it should.
I was glad when we finally paid and stepped out into the fresh air.
Maybe if we had chosen some other table and ordered some other dishes my experience would have been different or nice. But this time, I was really not pleased. A sandwich on the roadside would have been a better choice.
