DMRC--Step to the future

Ok, the title of my review is really bad and totally opposite to the content. I think DMRC has really done a goos job, I dont know if the manager was kewl or if sucha thing happened because the coaches were manufactured outside India, but having travelled on the metro twice, I have nothing but praise for it, coz there is just one word (actually 2) that describe the Metro, Efficent and comfortable. 2 of the key aspects that any general public member (yeah I mean Delhi ki aam janta) will look for in a transport system. Sadly, our other two mass transit systems (the official category in which the Delhi govt (bharatiya sarkar) classifies the metro, the DTC and the virtually non existent local railways of Delhi (yeah there are local trains connecting the stations at Okhla and New Delhi, Old Delhi and various parts of the NCR like Faridabad and Gurgaon) Well..our DTC buses are on the front page everyday for one crime or the other, some1 has picked a pocket, someone was eve-teasing, someone stabbed somebody etc etc, if u dont have a seat, no problem, u have to stand all the way on, WC travellers are not difficult to find atall. At the ISBT you are more likely to find a tout for getting tickets and a decent seat in the bus, disgraceful. But my travel in the Metro was really great. There was no litter and no vele people on the station. No one was permitted on the platform without a token and since the system is automated, it is quick and efficient too. Before a station comes up, an announcement is made as to what the station is and to which side will the doors open, and what the next station will be, and in every compartment there is a map of the track on which we are moving. So there is minimal confusion and u wont find anyone sleeping on the platform itself (a common occurence in the New Delhi Railway Station) the stations are handicapped-friendly and there are officials to guide u at every step. If u are worrying about timings, stop. The trains run on dedicated lines and thus there is minimal chance of a delay, the train lines are inspected by DMRC officials every night after the railway is closed for the day so minimal snags too. All in all, even if u dont have any official work, u shud try the metro just for a fun ride. The Kashmere Gate and Ajmeri Gate side terminal will be opening by the end of this month and the second phase has got approval to begin construction with 40% financing from japan.
