Inspiron 1420 offers best bang for your buck

I like Dell as its perhaps the only company which lets you customize every single component of your system as per your requirements online. I bought my Dell Inspiron 1420 for USD1034 i.e around INR 45000 from States and then got its ownership transferred to India. Its configuration is as follows:-

*Intel Core 2 Duo T8300(2.4 Ghz, 3MB cache, 800 Mhz FSB)

4 GB dd2 RAM 667 Mhz

14.1" TFT Anti-Glare Screen

250GB 5400 RPM HDD

DVD Writer

128 MB NVidia GeForce 8400M GS

Intel 802.11a/g/n Wireless

With Inbuilt, webcam, bluetooth

It works wonderfully well, with the above configuration "works well" would rather be an understatement. I use the system for programming, Adobe CS3, Corel, Virtualization and a lot more things. In these 2 months of usage, it has never hanged while running Vista 64 Bit.

The reason I bought it from States was that I saved Rs.15000 on taxes as opposed to Rs.64000 price for which it sells here.

The Anti-Glare screen helps a lot in keeping the reflections out. Its easy on the eyes, even in a fairly lit room, the screen does not show even a single reflection. The Webcam is nice, the speakers have a tin can effect to the sound but thats ok for a laptop, serious audiophiles dont really listen music on laptops! Headphone and mic jacks are located in the front. It weighs around 2.5 Kg.

It has 4 USB ports and dedicated media buttons. Is very rugged and well built, allthough not as good looking as its cousin XPS or even Sony Vaio but for the price, the performance on offer is unmatched.

I’d recommend it to everyone on hunt for a powerful and decent laptop with a reasonable budget. Inspiron 1420 wont let you down, its AWESOME!
