Dell Inspiron 1501

I am using Dell Inspiron Lapy since Dec 2006 , which I purchased in US . Configuration -Intel Core 2 Due with 80GB Hard disk and 1 GB RAM having XP -Home with 15.4 screen. I had been to US for a business travel for some 2 months and got this lapy, which is having a lotus white color and having a decent look. I paid almost 750$ for this kit.

I am a IT guy working in Web Technologies need some applications to run in my Lapy, here I can write my experience and lapy performance which can help some one to decide.

Normal Use:

1. Dell is a trusted company for the Lapy .. don’t find any problem in browsing and watching on line movies , listening on line songs.

   
   




2. Sound system is very good.

   
   




3. Not one time system hang or any issue.

   
   

*Application Use:

*1. I am not using this for office purpose but this is always in my house for practice and learning.

1. I am running Eclipse and Application server , did not find any problem.

   
   




2. Not using Data base much , but seems quite fast.

   
   




3. Overall I am satisfied with the kit.

   
   

*Pros:

3. Sound system super , and having very good clarity.

   
   




4. Dell Media Center edition having beauty for movie and songs too.

   
   




5. I have 6 cell battery can use 2.5-3 hrs

*Cons:

1. Laptop heat ..quite more compare to other.

   
   




2. Battery max 2-3 hrs for 6 cell

   
   




3. If you move your mouse in the browser some internal tick tick sound generates .. I was shocked initially but quite normal after reading some reviews. Some times internal processing sound ..which make some wared ..i think it is normal too.

   
   

4.Cabinet is white color bit care needed.

1. No internal Microphone .. which is the saddest point , I purchased one from outside market can be fitted , but this I can not tolerate.

Maintenance:

To keep the system productive I am using some tips.

1. I always clean the disk ( XP has a feature in control panel as performance and monitoring)

   
   




2. I follow disk fragment monthly one or two time , I am downloading and deleting some stuffs from net always.

   
   




3. Some times I will clean the Lapy with a cotton and a dust remove brush, I too clean the screen with cotton .

   
   




4. Using Anti virus McAfree.

   
   

*Problem faced:

Some 6 months back I got a alert when I boot my Laptop as "Battery not having charge and corrupted" I was shocked money will go out from my pocket if the Batter gone. I use my lapy for 2 days with power but the battery did not charge at all . suddenly I detached the battery from back ant put it again .. ahh beauty it got charging again . I am using since 6 month no problem.

My 2 years of Dell experience can recommend you a Dell Lapy. Now in market 3-4 GB Ram and 320GB hard disk laptops available , so always with higher configurations and Vista too. I did not use AMD processor decision is yours to go ahead.

I am planning for a high end Dell Laptop with some better configurations with Internal Microphone , Blue tooth and web cam must.

Battery Issue:

Recently I faced the problem with battery , It almost gone . spoke to the Dell Suport , they are suggesting a new 6cell battery approx - 140$ . How come the battery just damaged after 2 yrs .

Antivirus:

I purchased Mc-fee and one sudden I got Torjan entered to my laptopn and screwed my Internet Explorer , then not able to get out that , so I reblast the system with (F8) key. and it back to normal . just spent some couple of hours.

Laptop is fine and running fine with AC , so point to trust on Dell Battery which will cost after some 1.5-2 yrs.
