Average Laptop

Pros:


Good Looks and design. Economical.


LCD has a great contrast & viewing angle.


The various ports like usb etc are located at comfortable place on the laptop and not on back like other laptops.


Cons:


I have purchased Dell Laptop with an intention that I will recieve a laptop with no headaches. But that did not happened.


The colour on the lid i.e the outer side of the LCD gets removed even due to minor scratches.


I have Vista on my laptop. Vista is already a hgorrible OS. XP does not gets installed.


Workoffline pop up keeps on coming up. The IE has some problems. Similar other minor but irritating problems exists.


When expected for a solution for this from dell they tell that its an OS problem and contact Microsoft. When contacted Microsoft they tell that since the OS was not bought from them directly and was preinstalled on the Laptop its Dells responsibility to solve the issue. Now I am swinging between the Dell and Microsoft.


The LCD screen hinges and the supports are too delicate to be use during travels in public transport.


Dell does not even provide the carry bag for free unlike its competitiors.


Battery Life is also too less.


Inspite of 3 gb ram its a bit slow.


Will not recommend to buy dell laptops from India as there are some or the other problems with the laptops bought here.


Dell’s poor customer service is also the main issue.


Customer Service is open only from monday to friday that too from 9am to 6pm which means that to get our issue resolved working people will have to take a days leave. Dell does not have toll free no. to be used from mobiles. Have to spend 10-20 minutes before getting connected to the technical support people. Moreover the phone on getting connected tells something like "No one is free to service the request" or "The line will be transfered to the executive". But even after some time no one takes up the call.


Even the telephone and email support does not seems to have much knowledge of the issue coming up. After some trials only solutions which comes up is to format the disks or reinstall the OS. This means we will have to take the backup of huge amount of data we have stored on the Laptop.


Seeing HP and others giving good service nowadays.
