My uncle bought me this Dell through singapore online store, because of the huge price difference between india and singapore. Its atleast Rs10000 more here. The notebook that I purchased totalled at Rs43, 700/-nett that includes Intel Core 2 Duo T5500, 1 GB RAM, DVD+/- RW dual layer, 100 GB HDD, Intel GMA 950, Bluetooth, 3-in-1 card reader, WiFi, XP home and a host of other bundled softwares.
The performance is fantastic for the price. Media direct, with front access multimedia buttons makes controlling media, a breeze. It also allows to play music, videos and pictures without
booting windows making it more like a DVD player.Multitasking is done effortlessly allowing 2 or 3
processes to run simultaneously, thanks to Core 2 Duo CPU. The amplitude and quality of sound is amazing. The 15.4" screenwith Truelife delivers bright and crisp video performance. The standard 6-cell battery enables me more than 3 and a half hours of work.
Everything is good except for the inbuilt Intel GMA 950 graphics, which is a huge joke. I made a blunder not to opt for a dedicated card like ATI or NVIDIA. It couldnt play games that are two years old.Another thing is that its a bit heavy at 2.9 kgs making it less portable.
But overall its value cannot be matched by anythin else.I would suggest you buy this abroad if possible. Its the cheapest in the U.S. Even in India its price and highly customizable options make it second to none.
