Dells new notebook also includes what the company is calling its most powerful notebook graphics solution ever, the Nvidia GeForceFX Go5650 graphics accelerator.
The Inspiron 8600 includes hard drive storage options up to 80-Gbytes, DDR-333 RAM options from 512 Mbytes to 3 Gbytes; two USB and a single IEEE 1394 port, and either a rewritable CD/DVD-ROM or DVD+RW drive.
The new notebook comes with Microsofts Windows® XP Home Edition operating system, the WordPerfect Productivity Pack, Dell Juke Box, Dell Picture Studio, and the RealOne Player for watching streaming video. Six months of America Online or Earthlink membership (new members only) is also included. The notebook ships with Dells SecurityCenter, a collection of applications included with purchase designed to provide customers access to anti-virus, firewall and privacy protection.

The Inspiron 8600 utilizes the Intel Mobile Pentium 4-M processor. This processor is manufactured on a 0.13 micron, the same as the previous Pentium III-M (Tualatin) processors. This shrinking of the die not only allows for improvement in processor speeds, it also runs cooler and uses less power.
