Well I bought this laptop (N5110) few month before as I was looking for a laptop which can assist me in parallel computation based problem domains and which comes under my budget as well.So I went for this one - such a big mistake - seriously never make any compromises and better not to have faith in such brands ( or any brands).
This laptop comes with following high end components .......
i5 2430M Turbo Boost Proc (2 CORES BOTH HT ENABLED)
nvidia 525M 1GB graphics (COMES WITH CUDA SUPPORT)
Both are good for parallel computing to a particular extent. But to support these high end and powerful components there is a need of better and sophisticated cooling system (or fan) and this is where the Dell guys failed. So just because of this huge mistake, whole system is working like a big piece of junk.......so you cannot run cpu extensive apps even though your cpu is capable of processing that. This is what the major issue concerned with this laptop but KAHANI ABHI BAKI HAI MERE DOST............
Now comes the story of touch pad - yes the worst touch pad ever seen. The touch pad brand is ALPS for which there does not exist any support or drivers from Linux point of view and most of the Linux distros recognize it as a mouse rather than a touch pad hence further disabling the functionalities like scrolling and other gesture supports.
On windows using this touch-pad was the worst nightmare ever - seriously as you can find out from other reviews this touch-pad is ..........F???I?G piece of sh..it.........???
In todays world everyone is getting selfish - no body care about customers now - only profit matters to these guys - so never ever trust a brand like DELL as well.
