I am using the new Dell Latitude 7000 series East 75th Since 2 Months nowso lets jump into this like we do every time our dimensions are thirteen point three by nine point one to five point eight zero inches thick weight on this particular model is three pounds eleven point two ounces the previous seventy four forty I reviewed was one ounces lighter but it had a three cell 34 watt hour battery standard on the 7450 is a three cell 40 watt hour battery and this particular model has the optional four cell 54 watt hour battery so far Windows reports about six and a half hours of use at 80% with general surfing on high performance setting Ive let it sit on sleep for the last seven hours and it still reports dead like seventy five percent left has a standard try metal chassis with magnesium alloy under the surface and now uses a soft touch painted finish on the exterior the previous seventy four forty had an all aluminum LCD cover feels pretty good I mean its soft to touch but its going to attract dirt fingerprint marks etc as far as ruggedness its aluminum so theres a little bit of flex there in the hid lid but its solid you not like the cheap Walmart laptops where you bend the back of it and you can see your fingerprints coming through the back of the screen I do like the all-black finish though this model is the Core i5 series fifth generation I 553 hundred you at 2.3 gigahertz core i3 and core i7 models are available in dual core variants integrated graphics is standard but a vast improvement over the 74 40 is the addition of discrete cards the NVIDIA GeForce 840 m is available on the i5 and i7 models 128 through 512 gigabyte SSD is available the 500 gigabyte hybrid drive is also available as far as RAM goes you have a choice of four eight and/or 16 gigabytes of ddr3 low-voltage you have two DIMM slots 14 inch screen with 1366 by 768 resolution standard 1080p is available along with 1080p touch the 1080p touch has a slightly different cover on it I think they called it carbon wrapped or carbon fiber wrapped the intel AC 170 265 card is available along with the dell wireless or 1560 as well as the Intel AC 72 65 all four options in the US market provide Bluetooth 4.0 we have the Intel i2 18 gigabit card mobile broadband cards are available as well in the HD front facing webcam Windows 7 Professional standard with 8.1 pro and 10 Pro available Ive been testing 10 with all of our apps and its promising diehard users who dont like change we hard to convince but most of my users love 10 and better than 8.1 as far as all of our external connections go well start on the left side if you have available heres your smart card slot give your SD card slot exhaust fan slots on the back is where all your connections are you have your standard Dell charger you have USB 3.0 HDMI another USB 3.0 mini DisplayPort Gigabit Ethernet on the right-hand side your Kensington security lock USB 3.0 headphone jack theres nothing on the front side on the front other side are your left and right speakers theyre loud and sound pretty good but theyre still pretty flat theres no a lot of base to them as far as the palm rest goes we have the same soft touch rubbery fill we have a nice very large trackpad this is the dual pointing stick option you get the little stick in the middle here mouse keys up here and down here of course youve got your webcam webcam indicator and your left and right microphones your power button is over here to the side now it used to be up here to different style that all the other one used to be rectangle this is circular your hard drive battery and Wireless indicator moved up here you no longer have the volume up and down in or mute buttons on the left hand side they are now integrated into the FN keys keyboard as you can see is different from the 74 40 its going to the chiclet style that everybody is going to with the further space keys it is backlit which is a good thing Im still a fan of my e65 20 keys because they have the traditional spacing like youd expect from external keyboard but these do have pretty decent feel to them for a laptop as far as heat and fan noise goes this is about 30 seconds after running a 4k video on YouTube fan pretty much stayed off until we got towards about 55 degrees Celsius when I kicked on pretty high he Windows Experience Index comes out at five point two seven one processor seven to Ram five to graphics six point six gaming and seven point nine on the hard drive key after general use its pretty warm right in here the key stay pretty cool to touch but it gets pretty warm there obviously its going to get warm on the exhaust fan side and on the other side as far as under the hood goes it does have a replaceable battery heres your little switch red is release heres your fifty four watt hour battery sort of flap right here has a bunch of random motherboard connections on it to remove the bottom cover two screws one on the left and right cover pushes down you can lift it off it is plastic here youre DIMM slots your heat sink fan when your heat sink for your CPU and your discrete card if you ordered one heres your W Lancelot heres your wireless slot and here is your mSATA slot this is the 256 gigabyte samsung PM 871 if you order the hybrid drive I do believe theres a different chassis because you have to have the mSATA interposer or whatever that goes right here changes the layout a little bit one disadvantage I see to this chassis compared to the 6000 series that Im seeing is that to service any of these components its going to require a good amount of tear down the power jack up here doesnt look very easy to change where on the e60 530 once you take the back cover off take the screw out you can get the power jack out in a couple of seconds if somebody broke it or something however on the flip side of that if youve got the good warranty with these you get to let other people deal with those kind of issues when they arise for business folks a big positive that still uses the deli series document station port replicator you need the spacer since the port is more towards immaculate laptop price-wise these are on the upper end of our laptop budgets this model shown was approximately $2, 100 out the door our surface pro 3 for purchases have been about the same by the time you factor in the dock the dongles the warranty of case and all the Shahnaz that you need to run the host overall I think the addition of the discreet graphics card makes the 7450 a clear winner over its predecessor the 74 40 out of 10 Im going to give this laptop a solid 9 its got discrete options its got a core i7 16 gigs of RAM tons of hard drive space good battery life touch options if you want it in Windows 10
