I bought a Dell Studio 15 a few months back. A week ago the laptop got a tap on the side disconnecting the beading and the Power on Key. Called Dell to have a Service Technician look at it but was told that I needed to take an extended warranty over the existing one of Rs. 8, 145/-. Was equally told that the company would not service products nor offer spares on a "non warranty" program.
The key issue is that as per the Consumer Protection laws in this country, a manufacturer / assembler has to offer spares and after care on warranty as well as without it. Further the procong of compnents and spares cannot be differentiated.
In the case of Dell, the company is obviously operating beyond the legal framework and laws of the land. I intend to sue Dell. If there are more people who have been treated in such a manner,
My ibntention is too file a class action suit against the company, get them barred from selling their products until they have a aftercare system across the country as also get the Courts to investigate how this company was allowed to assemble and put in place a distribution system in the country without following the right Consumer Protection steps.
