I am using a DELL XPS M1530 for the past 2.5 years. It was working good except for the fact that it heats up too much that I could not actually use it on my lap but I used to use it as a desktop so it did not bothered me much. I bought it from US and took a 2year warranty. Now I moved to India after a year and about 3 months before my warranty would expire. The a button on the keyboard stopped working. I called up their customer care and asked them what should I be doing. The person replied I need to transfer my warranty to India which would take about a month and then I would have to call back.
From here things started getting messy. Once the warranty was transferred I again called up Dell and guess what the person said this time. This is a US warranty and not valid in India. I dont know what stopped them from saying that earlier. Anyways he said the keyboard would cost 1500 bucks and the engineer would charge 2000 bucks or else I would have to extend my warranty for another year which would be around 10k.
I got a keyboard for 15 k and fixed it my self. Now after a few months there was some problem with the motherboard. I again called them and they said it needs to be replaced which along with engineer would cost about 12k or I have to buy a warranty for 20k( warranty for 20 when u get pretty good laptop for 25 k)
I again got it fixed for 3k from a external engineer.
So look out when you are buying this laptop which is so costly you might not want to spend a huge money on warranty and repairs every 2-3 years and the heating of laptop is just un bearable. Do check the warranty cost of dell for this laptop in case some problem comes before buying it. I would strictly not recommend any dell products
