"Wise man never sit and wail their loss" this saying unfortunately doesnt apply for our hero DEV in DEV D and that’s how the story goes........
When was the last time you watched a movie and said "wow, what a movie", if somebody ask me the same question I would reply back by giving an example of AAMIR.
Yesterday I got the same feeling after watching DEV D .I wont go in depth discussing the plot of the movie bcoz its loosely based on DEVDAS and we all are already aquainted with the plot and also with the characters like (DEV, PARO, CHANDRAMUKHI AND CHUNNILAL).
All I would do is give three reasons to watch this movie to every individual who craves for good movie in every sense.
1) TREATMENT OF THE SUBJECT : Mr Anurag take a bow for reinventing the subject of devdas and making it look so believable and real.
Let me admitt that this guy is genius , From the first fame he succeeds in keeping the audience enthralled with his direction, I was impressed by the craftmanship of this man when I saw BLACK FRIDAY and i’m sure everybody who has seen BLACK FRIDAY would agree with me , with this movie he has raised his standards further more .
unfortunately his movie BLACK FRIDAY did not receive any awards (which was a tight slap on the face of thepeople who are behind judging and giving this so called awards for the recognition of the excellence in cinema**) Hopefully this time he gets noticed and the deserved recognition .
*2) PERFORMANCE FROM THE CAST: Thou i’m not an erudite critic who knows the skills of acting but I was zapped by the performance of every individual , in one word I would say impeccable.
a) **ABHAY DEOL as DEV was excellent , he was as real as one can be , he is one actor who can act in everything and yet make it so believable.
b) MAHI GILL (in certain scenes who looks somewhat like tabu ) as PARO was amazing , throughout the film you could feel her pain and anger , she has done an amazing job playing paro.
c) LENNY as CHANDRAMUKHI was good too, as the film progress her character grows on you .
and not to be forgotten the modern /reinvented character of CHUNNILAL , unfortunately I dont know the artist name but yes he too suceeds in leaving a mark .
3) At last but not the least the soul of every movie "MUSIC ":
The music leaves a lasting impact on you , i can still visualize all the scenes bcoz of the backgrond scores , infact as soon as I complete this review I am going to rush to nearby audio shop to buy one CD for me.
a special mention to the EMOTIONAL ATTYACHAR song , trust me you would love it more when you watch it on big screen.
*To sum up I will suggest everyone reading reviews on mouthshut and who has still not watched this movie is stop reading reviews and go and catch this flick, its a movie which comes once in a lifetime and trust me it would be a crime to miss this one,
IF FOR NOTHING WATCH IT FOR ACTORS WHO CAN ACT AND NOT FOR ACTORS WHO SELL.
ONE ADVICE : Watch it with ur frds and not with ur family or else you would come out feeling embarrassing bcoz of certain scenes.*
