Unconventional – Bollywood coming of age finally!

Dev D -

Anurag Kashyap has done a remarkable job in the style of movie making. Very bold manner of depicting the age old Devdas in today.

Abhay Deol is in his best form till today, the actress who plays Paro (Mahi Gill) is an amazing find – she has done full justice to her role as the new age Paro from the land of sarson ka saag, very dynamic, redefines the approach to feminism in Hindi movies.

The girl playing Chandramukhi (Kalki) – beautiful job of the new age Chanda, she has brought the right amount of Oomph and X factor to her role. The Music is very different – and for once that’s true J. It’s a highly successful experiment.

The tracks "Emotional atyachaar", "Payaliya" are very good. I saw myself rolling with laughter at Paro’s wedding scene where two Elvis look alike’s around a local band sing "Emotional atyachaar". The first half will really surprise you, shock you and you will love every bit of it. The second half has a high doze of booze and drugs which make you almost feel sorry for Dev but also that he deserved every bit of torture that he is going through.

The new age Devdas has the story unfolding in and around the North. The controversial topic of the MMS scandal has been handled very gently weaving it in the flow of the movie. A fresh perspective to the age old characters of Devdas, Paro and Chandramukhi. The look and feel of the movie has also been carefully taken care of and very minute details have been taken care of to fit in the scheme of the storyline, uncommon practice in Hindi cinema.

I loved it.
