Dev D

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, well many of you may compare this movie with the previous versions of the novel written by Sarat Chandra Chatterjee, but Anurag Kashyap has an upper hand, he has a vision that the previous directors did not have – it’s the balls to go a step ahead and break all boundaries.

There is nothing really special about the storyline but how the movie ends; now you may ask me why I am telling you about the end, the end is the beginning of a new. The plus point about this movie is the way the characters are handled and the diverse qualities of each and everyone it’s just like you and me, with everyone thinking about self respect, revenge, image, carelessness and a lot of other things that we really are.

This is not a story about Dev; it’s about the people, who are around him, who make the story complete and leave you with a smile on your face, there are a lot of twists and turns one being, Dev’s father not objecting him getting married to Paro, characters are not Bengali they are Punjabi, Devand Paro are constantly in touch with each other via internet and phone, Chunilal is not Dev’s friend but he is a Pimp, and Chandramukhi is not a dancer she is a prosti*ute, a very high class who has limited customers which she chooses by her own preference.

I’m not going to take you through the story all I’m going to tell you is that if there is a movie out there and you want to feel paisa vasool Dev D is it, there is no song sequence all the songs play in the background and none make you yawn. Humor is awesome no pale or heard jokes, language is a bit uncalled for but goes perfect with the movie.

Well this may not be much but I don’t want to waste much time of yours, so why are you still sitting and reading this go get yourself some seats to watch Dev D and come back to reply. Maybe by this time Paul must be writing his review I think if there is a movie review writer on MS Paul is he man.

Don’t worry Dev does not die in this movie but he continues his life with Chandramukhi happily ever after. It’s me saying good bye. Enjoy life don’t play around with it.

Miss this flick at your own risk.
