Dev D : Filmy Atyachar : The Vodka flood

The movie is entirely a new experiment on an old knownstory. And the treatment given to the movie is excellent and make it veryun-conventional. As expected all the character like Paaro, DevD, Chunni and Chandaseems un-common like they were in their version 1.0 movie but they stand opposite in values and approach.

No one can compare the old and the new versions of Devdas here and I am not the exception. It is also because, the basic difference is the targeted audience. The movie will attract youths from both metro and small towns and it can be enjoyed with friends only.

The new dev here is a Punjabi boy from of course London and Paaro is a Punjabi Jaatni. The first part of the movie showcased a Punjabi marriage and somewhat looks like Monsoon Wedding. The lusty girls and dusty boys combo worked here again and keep the interest of audience alive.

I couldn’t stop myself from rolling with laughter in some of the creative scenes but at some places the story seems like losing its pace. From Punjab, story will take-you to Delhi. The locations in Delhi have been chosen very intelligently.

There are many hotels in pahadganj, New Delhi and it is near to New Delhi station. The location gives a natural set to the movie. The movie projects a modern but-hidden picture of Delhi night life. A flood of Alcohol and drugs can explain ita little. The story ends in Delhi only but can you guess the ending. The story is out now.

In previous movies, I was not impressed from Abhay Deol and-again he has disappointed me. At some of the places his face looks flat and It doesn’t reflect any trace of Emotional Atyachar. Mahi Gill (Paaro) was natural and has done a good job though. I would love to appreciate Kalki Koechlin (Chanda) for an excellent performance.

Kalki is well in speaking French and Tamil but it was tuff for her to mouth hindi dialogues. She took training of Hindi and gave an admirable performance. Rest of the actors were up to the mark and no one got success in leaving impression on audience.

Anurag Kashyap, director of the movie, would also get a byteof appreciation but he could do better. All of us should be thankful to him for not making “No Smoking” part 2. The best part of the movie is screen play and cinematography.

The movement of camera has been well taken care, some of the angles of camera make the scenes more exciting and at some places it is a demand of scene which-keep the camera behind the bush. The music is pretty good and Emotional Atyachar is successful in attracting people to the cinemas. Other songs are good but few doesn’t fall fit with plot of movie. At many places I got irritated also.

You would think then how it was a Filmy Atyachar when all-the elements were placed at a right block???? The movie is overall gaudy filled with super natural imagination sand unbelievable incidents. Our new Dev doesn’t feel guilty for making love-with other girl but is over sentimental and possessive about her so called love, Paaro.

He doesn’t even ready to talk to Paaro about whatever he listened about-her. He not only insult her but throw her away from his life. Paaro except another marriage proposal and suddenly Dev became senti for Paaro and start drinking Vodka. Vodka is available in abundant in this movie and Devdas is an alien guy who lives on Vodka only.

(He has a direct contract with Smirnoff and he get direct supply from production plant…..:-)) Even if the Paaro is happy with her new married life, our Dev is not happy because now he wants to make love with her. The modern hero is not a hero but a druggist and killer. **What kind of ATYACHAR is this with audience.**I like only one character that is Chanda’s. She is a victim of one MMS scandal and her own hidden desperation.

But she raised a question to the audience if sheis a despo then what about those who saw the MMS with their buttoned eyes. The question is still unanswered. Chanda have a positive approach toward life. She not only give a new kick start to her but Dev also.

The surge of sentiments and emotion of Dev could not advocatea good logic behind it. I think many of us would reject the movie only because itis a senseless drama and a crap of illogical mind. I am not the exception here also and reject this movie. Even I cannot understand, what kind of entertainment it provides to the audience. Please keep a Disprin+ or Saridon with you when watching second part of the movie.
