My second review in succesive days. I guess iam getting addicted to this.. but I know my reviews are not worth to get noticed. :)
Light ..camera ..Action.... Devdas as everybody knows was Sanjay leela Bansalis Dream Venture.I had the oppurtunity to watch Bimal Roys Devdas and Bansalis Devdas on the same day so cud get an oppurtunity to compare both.I guess by filming this movie at the cannes festival it was brought on to the international arena, and moreover it was appreciated by one and all.
Iam normally allergic to romantic and tragic plots. But I didnt repent a least bit after watching this. Bansali obviously hadnt much work to do on the story. He paid due justice to 50 crore he spent on the movie. The set was extremely beautifully done.I also learnt tht he took care even in the minutest of details abt the set. I wud like to mention wht I had heard in 1 of the previews. Bansali was very particular abt the no. of doors paro crosses when wanting to see devdas in dying moments of the movie. I guess very few directors wud bother abt this. Hats off to bansali. We can definetly sense the maturity in his business in his just second movie. I just hope he entertains us with many more of these.
Coming on to the starcast aishwarya rai and madhuri dixit have both excelled in their roles. Shahrukh is though in his usual self of those deep breaths and rona dhona. I personally feel he dosent excel in these kind of roles. Dilip kumar best suited and I guess no body can replace him. jackie shroff has done a cameo with his d se dil, d se diwana , d se dard kind of stuff. Kiran kher as paros mother also has performed her role well. Overall I feel everybody played their part to the perfection.
Music of this movie is also worth discussing abt. Ismail Durbar is very fluent in classical kind of songs. His debut in HDDCS was superb. Teen sensation shreya ghosal has sung beautifully. I had last heard her abt 4 years back in sa re ga ma in which she was a participant in children category. she has come a long way after tht. and has many milestones to cross. Kavita Krishnamurthy was in her usual best. Dola re Dola and maar daala are my favourites.
This movie has excelled in all the departments and hats off to all those who were involved in this movie.
