Must Sanjay Leela Bhansali always copy ideas from Bengali novels?
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was borrowed from Moitrei Devis Nohonnote. Its a bengali novel.Obviously he never thought of mentioning anywhere in the titlecards and the awards ceremonies that the idea of the plot is a stolen one.At least in case of Devdas, he has been decent enough not to eliminate Sarat Chandra Chatterjee from the picture altogether.
Devdas is a sorry picture altogether. There are very strong emotions associated with the story which could be brought out better.Especially with performers like SRK and Aishwarya Rai.
The music is good.If the dirctor did not splurge money the way he did and kept it simple then the movie would have been more appealing. It is difficult to sympathise with any of the characters (including the tragedy hero himself) seeing him in such plush settings.
