It is very surprising that even after movies like Satya, Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai, some of our actors like Shahrukh Khan still don’t take his profession of ACTING diligently.
Asoka and then Devdas prove that Shahrukh Khan is light years away from being an A C T O R.
Not his fault actually. It is the masses who want Shahrukh Khan to look like Shahrukh and act (if at all he acts) like Shahrukh all the time.
But still Shahrukh and all other thespians of Bollywood bear the onus of doing justice to their profession of acting well and making the audience educate about their profession.
People have seen Amitabh act and they value it. Besides being a true Superstar, we all respect him as a brilliant actor. Can we all really say that for Shahrukh ???
Sanjay Leela Bhansali too proved that he is nothing but a Businessman. All the respect that he generated with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam has gone down the drain.
Is Devdas just all about 50 crores, superstars, grand sets, rich costumes ??? Did Sanjay Leela really bring forth the character of Devdas out of Shahrukh? Was the casting of Shahrukh to play Devdas apt ? Or if I put it in another way, before Devdas, could any of us imagine Shahrukh as Devdas in wildest of our dreams ?
To answer all these questions, just take shots of Shahrukh from Devdas, juxtapose them with any clips of Shahrukh from his other films and ask yourself whether Shahrukh played Devdas or he played himself.
Shahrukh will pay his price for not learning. So should Mr. Bhansali. To sum it up, Shahrukh, 50 crores, sets, costumes, songs, etc., can never be bigger than the central character of D E V D A S.
