Dexter was easily the most entertaining and thrilling crime, drama, mystery TV series aired by Star World. Needless to say the American TV series was my favourite too. I never missed a single episode which use to run from Monday to Friday on the 11 pm-12 pm slot.
Unfortunately like every good things which must come to an end, the final series- Dexter 8 came to an end around six months back. The drama series had become an integral part of my daily life and I must admit that television viewing has not been the same for me after it ceased to exist. The programme provided countless moments of thrill and entertainment which every Dexter fan will vouch for.
The series revolves around the life of Dexter Morgan(Michael C. Hall), a blood spatter pattern analyst for the fictional Miami Metro Police Department who also leads a secret life as a vigilante serial killer, hunting down murderers who have slipped through the cracks of the justice system.
Dexter is orphaned at age three when his mother is brutally murdered in a shipping container. He is adopted by a policeman Harry Morgan(James Remar) who later discovers his homicidal tendencies. Harry teaches him to channelise his gruesome passion for killing in a "constructive" manner- by killing only heinous criminals such as child molesters, mob assassins, rapists, serial killers of the innocent etc who have hoodwinked the justice system.
Dexter joins the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood spatter analyst to satisfy his interest in blood and to facilitate his own crimes. He then meticulously goes on to eliminate hardened criminals or the scums of the society. Dexters sister Debra(Jennifer Carpenter) also works in the same department as a detective unaware of her brothers double life.
The 96th and the final episode "Remember the Monsters" brought down the curtains on one of the most popular TV series, while leaving viewers yearning for more.
Will Dexter make a comeback?
