Red card for the director!

Recently I received a letter from a football fanatic friend of mine and I thought of sharing it with you all. Here is goes:-

Hi Abhishek,

Few people can claim to be a bigger fan of football than I. And I’m big big fan of good sports movies.Throw in a camera and a few actors and a good story and hey presto, you got a movie. The news of a football movie excited me around a month ago.But then I heard rumors about the director praising John Ab for performing a Beckham like scissors kick in the movie and my bubble burst.Beckham and scissors kick! What the hell! Well I couldn’t remember a single instance when Beckham scored a spectacular goal with a scissors kick.

Hence, I was very hesitant when I went for the movie with two of my friends(both soccers fanatics). To say the movie is BAD is an understatement. The movie is a "KALANK " on football.

What we have here is an all-asian Football Club(FC) called SouthHall that used to be big around 20 years ago when their star player(Boman Irani) was at his peak. They reached the finals of the 1985 tournament and since then its been downhill all the way.The ground is now used for weddings and other functions. A big English builder wishes to purchase the ground for quick buck. Aiding her is the irritating  hindi football commentator Johnny Bakshi(Dalip Tahil) whose knowledge about football is worst than my knowledge about women. The owner of the ground refuses when egged on by Shaan(Arshad Warsi), a British Pakistani who surprisingly has a restaurant called "Little India". Talk about Indo-Pak unity! The British tyrant(Anne) says "Win the CCFLA league, get the prize money(3 million pounds), pay the lease money and save the ground." 3 millions pounds prize money for some unheard CCFLA league. God Save the Queen!

Thus they start building a team and the rest as they say is history.Literally!

Let me stop here with the story and talk about its endless flaws. This movie is a footballer’s nightmare! Budding young footballers should see the movie and learn what NOT to do while playing football.None of the players of Southhall FC look like footballers except John(& that is not a compliment for him!)It was like watching some unskilled buffaloes  playing football(Sorry guys, I know you give us milk and I shouldn’t compare wyou to SouthHall FC players)

Never ever I’ve seen a clock counting down in a football match. If you want to make a movie on football, please go and do some research.

This movie, claiming to fight racism is the most racist film I’ve seen.It shows all and I mean all Englishmen as racist which is not true.I accept there is a lot of racism in England but if you ask  someone like Arsen Wenger(manager of Arsenal FC) to ignore black/brown people even though they are talented, he might ask the WHITE guys to make away for the talented lot.For Clubs, a lot of money is on stake and preference is always given to talent and only talent.

Regards,

Tilu

So the bottom line is, if you love football stay far far away from GOAL.Trust me guys, it is not worth the effort!
