I know this hospital for more than 30+ years now. It was well known for Dr. Sudheer Patils success ratio of getting patients back to normal life in less time than expected.
But off late, I have been truly disappointed with its service. My wife was taking pregnancy consultations from Dr. Mrs. Swaroop Patil.
And the journey had been a COMPLETE mess. To start with, I found the lobby packed with patients during Covid times with no precautionary measures. On the same premises, the hospital has set-up a Covid test facility. Patients who are advised Covid tests by the hospital can be seen loitering around in the hospital premises freely, due to which a virus carrying patient runs a high risk of infecting others around.
My wife tested positive in her 09th month AND WAS ASYMPTOMATIC, and let me quote "She did not get exposed to any other environment other than Dhanwantari Hospital during her entire pregnancy period". I entirely and totally blame the hospital for their sheer negligence of implementing precautionary measures.
My wife was advised a Covid test by the hospital 25 days before her due date, which turned out to be positive.
CMO Dr. Raj Pandey called me up at 06:45 in the morning and informed me that the test was positive. Note the panicky situation he created when he chose to call me at 06:45 in the morning. And all he bluntly said was, "The patient is positive and takes her to YCM. We cannot attend to her any further".
To all the people reading this out, just note the audacity and blunt tone of a hospital that my wife had been to during her entire pregnancy period expecting smooth delivery.
Post-hearing this from Dr. Pandey, I tried getting in touch with Dr. Mrs. Patil for her advice. But as usual and to my dismay she was highly unapproachable. Assistant doctors present at the location told me the same thing Dr. Pandey had asked them to. The staff did not even know if there were any private hospitals around that could admit my wife. Dr. Zeba was highly unprofessional and rude in her behavior.
In an extremely reluctant and worried state of mind, I had to take my wife to YCM where she was admitted for two days. The mental pain and suffering that she had been through during those two days made me firmly believe that Dhanwantari Hospital was the worst choice we had made for delivery.
I really do not have to underline the overall conditions of Govt. hospitals have.
The hospital staff did not bother to call us even once to check if all was alright and if they could have ever been of help. And their SO-CALLED mission is to evolve as a benchmark in quality healthcare. I wonder what quality benchmark are they even talking about.
To all the readers, I would stress the point, that there are far better hospitals in and around PCMC. Just take a bit of an extra effort to explore and finalize. I risked my wife’s and my childs life by choosing this hospital, YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL.
