I was trying to save a lot. I wanted to buy a tablet and was waiting for it about 8 months. Finally pawned my gold chain and also my one month salary, bought Sony Xperia tablet S fro Amazon USA. I Shipped it to my US Comgateway address with fedex. It was deliverer to my comgateway address in 10-12 days with FEDex. I checked out with DHL express shipping for about 45$ to Cochin, India.
First everything seemed great. It reached UK in 3 days and on the 4 the day it reached Madras Customs. DHL showed "cleared customs shipment will be delivered to the address soon." I was happy I thought wow!! what a service from DHL. Till Saturday 4pm. no updates from DHL. I got confused. I called DHL office. They said it is still in Madras, It will be delivered on Monday. Is said okay.
On Monday the updates stopped coming it still stayed on MAdras. I called DHL they said it is in customs. I said I saw it cleared customs on friday " Sir, It is showing that it is in custom clearance to us" -Said the lousy DHL girl. I was pissed off . On Monday 7:30 DHL updated Custom status updated with a note someone from DHL will contact you if more documents are needed for clearance. On Friday it showed Cleared customs, and then arrived at Madras Sort facility.
And again it is going through customs. I have emails them thrice. no reply till now. They are the worst shipping company I have ever tried. I don’t know what they are going to charge me for the customs duty, if it is more than 16.85% then I am screwed completely. The lesson I have learned is don’t ever use DHL even if you have to go to US and pay the Flight ticket to ship something.
