Pooja Bhatt’s(Director’s) last 2 films were stupid.Paap was ok.but Holiday sucked big time.but this time, she gets it right!
Dhoka is one of the finest films to come out of the Bhatts camp.If you thought "Gangster", "Woh Lamhe" and "Awarapan" were the bests.change your mind.because "Dhoka" bashes all of them and takes a step further.
One of the reasons Dhoka primarily works is that the Story is so well wrtten.It is difficult.and hard to digest such a script .but the writer(Mahesh Bhatt) knows his job well.He makes such a critical story so easy for us to digest!
Dhoka also works becuase of its Dialogues and a few hard-hitting scenes.Dialogues are very well penned.each dialogue has a meaning.each dialogue.is superb!
The few scenes to be mentioned are.in order.The arguement between Muzammil and the Hindu man at the hospital, the scene where Muzammil comes to know about his wife, the mob who comes to kill Muzammil, the video tape scene before the intermission, the Anupam Kher-Tulip joshi-Ashutosh Rana scene, and the climax.These scenes raise your hair!
I would like to give special mention to the flashback scene by Anupam Kher.it is really spine-chilling and you catch your head in the sequence.
But the thing which stops me from giving 4 stars(I have assigned 3 star) is that the film is a little disturbing.you literally turn away your face in the flashback sequence.its too hard-hitting, to frank, to forward for Indian audience.
Director(Pooja Bhatt) scores this time.Pooja.we are proud of you.You have proved it now that you are Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter.
Story is excellent and hard-hitting, Screenplay and Dialogues are wonderful, Cinematography is good.
Music is ok
Muzammil Rocks! He is a born star!This man can act.He is simply excellent.but he needs to work hard in emotional scenes.or everything else is altright.He looks really hot.
Tulip Joshi is excellent.the actress takes giant strides as a performer.
Anupam Kher, Tulip’s brother and Muzammil’s friend(Ex-girlfriend) stand out.
At the end, Dhoka is a wonderful film.
