Well, Dhoom had a wonderful soundtrack which played on in every car, stereo systems at home, discos and pubs and it must have been a quite a huge task to make the sequels music even more rocking but I guess thats what made Dhoom 2 soundtrack not live up to Dhoom:The Original. I am not saying that its worse than any music ever, what I am implying is that the music to the followup of a movie with a rocking soundtrack disappoints in a big way.
First up on the album is the song Crazy Kiya Re, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. The song has a latino feel to it with heavy emphasis on latin american music, its hard to say whether sunidhi is trying tooo hard or not trying at all.
Second on the song is Touch Me, a song sung by KK and Alisha Chinoy. I guess she is under pressure as you can hear it in her voice. The song that was meant to be about love, seduction is turned into something you hear in local trains.
Third is the song My Name is Ali, a followup to the song Dilbara from the first Dhoom movie. The song is sung beautifully by Sonu Nigam with little bits of voice over from Bipasha which is not much so she doesnt count in the song that much. The song has the same musical arrangement as of Dilbara.
Fourth on the album is the song Dil Laga Na sung by not one but three singers, Sukhbir, Soham and Jolly Mukherjee. The song is ok, its got a vibrant feel to it and nothing more.
Fifth and my favourite in the album is the Dhoom Again song which is this movies title song. The English lyrics coupled with Vishal Dadlani and Dominic Cerajos singing helps add sorta like a matrix kinda sound. This song as you all know was the first song to be put out in the official trailer eventho it was just for a few seconds but the song is really a good one.
Last song is the remixed version of the song Crazy Kiya Re, remixed by Bunty Rajput and needless to say, its bad and it shouldnt even have been in the end cos if it had been at the start then atleast we would have forwarded to the next song. Remixes, they say, are the money earner but I hate to admit it but this remix sucks.
Overall, the album is a mix mash of good, bad and terrible songs. This one disappoints compared to the Dhoom album. But its worth a listen.
I give it 7/10.
