Qs: So where you been?
Ans: Here and there and saw this movie DHOOOOM!
Qs: Okay….but u a bit late watching Dhoom.
Ans: So what? Even the movie was late. Just a trussed up old Hollywood heist movie.
Qs: So that’s it?
Ans: No no…..Movie was solid. Great Motor Bykes…Hondas, Suzuki’s, and many others all 2000 cc bikes zoooming across like crazy. Would have loved to own one of them bykes. They are simply too good!
Qs: So the movie was about bykes?
Ans: Yes, mostly…..they were the stars of the movie ably supported by John Abraham the thief and Abhishek Bachhan the cop. They needed some guys to drive the bykes.
Qs: So what was the thief doing?
Ans: He had the fastest byke. Turbo fired engines with rocket after burners for generating speeds like lightning. He and his gang could just rob about anything and make a getaway because of these super bikes.
Qs: Great…..so the message was “Have fast bykes make a fortune.”?
Ans: Well in a way yes…that was the message of the movie…….should have ended that way too.
Qs: Sounds like a great movie…have a beer.
Ans: Yes for the beer, no for the movie. The cops look like helpless fools in front of these smart bykers. So they move in Abhishek the Cop and a roadside mobike mechanic. They made a good pair to get after the smart byke thieves. Abhi has a smart girlfriend too.
Qs: Ah!!!! No gals no movies.
Ans : Yeah. The trick was simple: Steal a jewelers store, make a getaway on these bykes and on the highway a Container truck with the rear open was waiting. The bykes drive over the ramp into container and the door closes shut. No more bykes for Police to chase on the highways.
Qs: This has been done before in Hollywood movies.
Ans: Sure. But there is always an Indian twist that the Hollywood guys can’t figure out. Like eventually John challenging Abhishek to catch him. He even tells Abhi where the next robbery was planned!
Qs: How was the musik? Gana vaanaa?
Ans: Musik? Ahhh….Dhoom macha de dhoom machaade Dhooom was rocking.
Qs: Cool…..so far sounds good to me.
Ans: Yes ….good fast paced movie….no bheja fry kind of movie for sure. Both the dudes rode bykes quite well. All in all a GOOD BYKE MOVIE.
The end however was a let down. They do a Casino job in South Africa, miss out on some Security details and get caught. Then the usual smart act by John, he gets away and eventually Abhi chases him down a mountain cliff. Very sad/bad end to a great Byke Movie. Wonder why the thieves always loose in movies.
