The Best of 2004

After reviewing Dhoom 2’s album (https://mouthshut.com/review/Dhoom_2_Album-113323-1.html), I decided to revisit the songs of the original Dhoom.

  1. Dhoom Machale- The most popular song of 2004, it is like a national anthem. Brilliant Music by Pritam. I personally enjoyed the signature tune very much. Lyrics by Sameer are OK. Sunidhi Chauhan is excellent in this song, as she is in most other songs. She rightly deserved awards for this song.

9.5/10

2. Shikdum- This is the second strongest song in the album after the title song. Sung by Shreya Goshal and Shaan, this was probably the most under-rated song of the album. Lyrics are Ok again. Music is playful.

8.5/10

3. Dilbara- A Mumbaiyya-tapori song. This song is sung by Abhijeet. The song weakest link in the album, but is still quite good. Music and Lyrics are both OK.

7/10

  1. Salaame- This song has a Fiesta-Latino song feel to it. Kunal Ganjawala and Vasundhara Das were excellent choices for this song. Music and Lyrics are both good.

7.5/10

  1. Dhoom Dhoom- This is the English version of Dhoom Machale. Sung by Tata Young, she puts a lot of energy into this song and it is extremely enjoyable. Lyrics by Asif Ali Baig are OK. Music is pretty much the same as the original.

7.5/10

There was also a Shikdum remix and a Dilbara reprisal which I have not mentioned.

Overall- This was the most rocking album of 2004, and is one of the best in the whole decade. It is a must have for any collection.

8/10
