Dibrugarh- The tea city of India

Situated on the southern banks of the mighty Brahmaputra river, Dibrugarh is a perfect holiday spot for tourists.


Located at a distance of 443 km from Guwahati, the gateway of the north east the city is well connected by road(NH-37), air(Dibrugarh Airport at Mohanbari, 15 km from the city) and rail(Dibrugarh Railway Station).


It is famous for its lush green tea gardens, flora and fauna. The city has several tourist spots worth visiting. The Jokai Botanical garden, Joggers park on the Brahmaputra bank, Lord Jagannath temple(second biggest one after Puri), ancient relics from the Ahom era are some of the famous spots, Visitors can also go for a boat ride on the clear blue waters of the Barhmaputra.


The city is a hub of education with several premier educational institutions like Dibrugarh University, Assam Medical College, Regional Medical Research Centre, DHSK College, MDKG College, DHSK Commerce College, Dibru College, NLB City College, Salt Brook Academy, Salt Brook School, Don Bosco School, Little Flower School, Saint Mary’s School, Peace Cottage, Sampoorna Academy etc.


The Assam Gas Cracker Project, Bogibeel Bridge Project(India’s longest rail-cum-road bridge over Brahmaputra at 4.94 km), 4-laning of NH-37(from Nagaon to Dibrugarh) are some of the major projects being implemented in Dibrugarh. The city has several premier hotels like Tea county, City Regency, Little Palace, Indsurya, Natraj, Raj Palace etc where one can can have a nice and comfortable stay.


Tourists can also stay the night in heritage tea bungalows and have a first hand experience about the tea garden life. The minimum temperature recorded in Dibrugarh this year was 5.2 °C on 22 December and the maximum was 38.2 °C on 26 June.
