For many years, we were cola drinkers. After my husband’s diabetes discovery, we were strickly Pepsi One. Much easier on his digestion and mine, is our newest selection, Diet Squirt. We have been drinking it for five or six years. It makes a nice mixed drink for Sam, and I am able to drink it without bloat. There are not any calories. It is a great diet drink.
Diet Squirt is made up of carbonated water, concentrated grapefruit and orange juices, and additives. These additives are citric acid and aspartame. Aspartame is a generic form of NutraSweet. There is concern for aspartame taken in large amounts. But even sodas taken in access are serious concerns for over weight people and high blood pressure. So, as with anything, drink to enjoy, but don’t replace your water intake. Nothing can replace water. The benefits are the juices and carbonated water for my husband. His digestion handles Diet Squirt better than any cola. And he LIKES the taste over Seven Up and Squirt.
Sodium is also added to Diet Squirt as a preservative. That is in most soda drinks. So, if watching your intake for high blood pressure, check your pop selection’s sodium amounts. Diet Squirt has 15 mg. But the sodium/carbonated mix also helps a person to rift if they have indigestion. Diabetics often suffer this problem.
THE TASTE:
We simply enjoy the taste over any other drink. Adding it to orange juice and over ice, it is a great mixed drink. A nice summer cooler with good old O.J. can’t be wrong. Seven Up and Squirt don’t mix well with juice. And we enjoy the mix. My granddaughter is allergic to cola. Either one, Pepsi or Coke. She loves her pap’s Diet Squirt and loves to have it with juice. She isn’t a ’juice’ drinker, so I get the benefit of giving her juice this way. My favorite way to drink Diet Squirt is straight. I enjoy the tingle.
TRY IT...you’ll like it:
Try freezing Diet Squirt in cube trays and adding those cubes to your orange juice. And just mixing it half and half with O.J. is delicious. It is a healthy drink. If you don’t get enough juice, this can benefit you. There is a lot being said in health news about adults and O.J.
