Chip didn't require 4 CD's to sell

I was among the first few customers of CHIP and since the month of April when they started I had bought almost all the issues ( however from Newstand )except twice. It was not that just me who liked the magazine , but also my newspaper wala. He used to tell me that not even his Girlie magazines used to sell as much as CHIP .

When the Jasubhai Group left Vogel , I wasn’t aware immmediately . For next month I believe , they didn’t publish . When they did come out after that , I didn’t realize even then although my newsstandwala told me it’s from the same guy. ;) Since then , I have purchased DIGIT many a times , but I always felt that something was definitely missing . That something wasn’t exactly a tangible thing you could point out ... but slowly and steadily you could feel it . The magazine’s content was definitely changing .

Something that many readers even complained about was the increase of Advertisement pages. The magazine had started out with lots of promise and good reviews on both softwares and hardwares . There used to be quite a few test made , some cool Interviews etc.

The first major change was probably that the magazine callled DIGIT was no longer a Computer Magazine , it had become a Technology magazine with dedicated sections to MP3 players , mobile phones and what not. Maybe thats what some people wanted but this doesn’t mean that you kill the theme of the primary idea. Like when it was CHIP , even then they used to have seperate Magazines from same publishing for seperate topics like Programmers , Gaming world , Designer’s Choice etc.

Also , I think with DIGIT many content writers and even their editor-in-chief gaurav left . I used to realy love his editorials . after him, quite a few guys tried their hand ... I think even the CEO of the Jasubhai group wrote one or two till I bought it . But the quality was nowhere near :(

One thing however I liked with DIGIT was the pages of the magazine was of somewhat better quality .

Last time I purchased a edition of DIGIT myself , they used to give out 2 CD’s which they had increased in order to compete with the other magazines which also had started bringing out Free CD’s. And the last time I saw one edition in my younger brother’s house who now subscribes to it ... they have 4 Free CD’s now . ’Tis amazing ... something like giving a Free Toothpaste tube for every toothbrush you buy . LOL
