Not a movie you forget easily, more for the acting and songs, but a well clean movie and well directed.
I am not all that good in giving you names of directors as these movies were not seen by me recently but ages back but the story line and mostly music I never intend to forget, as
music of a film leaves it’s impressions on my mind.
The film revolves around a hospital and Dr’s and nurses there is a very dedicated Dr who is Raaj Kumar to his profession that he does not even bother of anything much more then his patients, that he does not even realise a nurse has fallen deeply in love with him who is Meena Kumari whose name I remember is Karuna. Who obliges him in all ways even helping him look after his mother who is sick. Circumstances make him marry a woman who is Nadira,
a domineering and modern woman in her outlooks towards life.
In the hospital there is held a play for charity, and the artistes are all the staff, here the song, Andaz mera mastana maange dil ka nazrana sochikey aankh milana ho jaiye na tu diwana ke hum bhi jawan hai dil bhi jawan hai
phir mat kehna mera dil kaha hai , mera dil kaha hai takanena. In this song the realisation dawns on the Dr as well as his wife that Karuna is in love with him.
Nadira never even waits for him to come and relax but just wants to go out as soon as he return’s home, this carries on for sometime and he puts with it somehow due to his mother.
One day the staff give a party for the newly weds and on the boat, when they are playing a game it comes to Karuna and she has to sing a song and here she sings, one of my most favourites. Ajeeb dastaan hai yeh, kahan shuru kahan khatam yeh manzilein hai kaun si na woh samaj sakey na hum.
Time flies with squabbling within the couple, till one day it reaches it peak as a life of a patient is lost who is Om Prakash.
He was to have a surgery done and suddenly he gets shooting pain, nurse Karuna calls up time again at home but the phone is not given to the Dr with some excuse from the wife.
By the time he gets the message it is too late, the patient is dead, he has a showdown with Nadira who least bothers and leaves home.
He again ask for Karuna’s help as his mother is unwell and he has a kid sister when Karuna comes back the mother realises the mistake she made and the sister calls her Bhabhi when for Diwali she lights the diyas of the house and this is overheard by the Dr himself, Karuna goes from there and we find her alone on the beach singing. Dil aona aur preet parai. kisney aisi reet baanaye, paani mein ek deep jaala ya aur paani mein aag laagayi dil apna.
Hai dard aisa ke sehna hai mushkil, duniya walon se kehna hai mushkil, gir ke aaya hai toofan aisa baachke saahil se rehna hai mushkil, gir ke aaya hai toofan aisa baacke saahilse rehna hai mushkil, dil apna aur preet parai kisne aisi reet banayi, dil apna.
Anyway as they say all bad things come to an end , as the wife meets an accident and dies, and life begins anew for Karuna who is accepted by the Dr and family.
A sweet and sentimental love story. Do not mind watching it again and again myself.
Do watch it a black and white film if you have a ear for music go for it and for the perfomance of Nadira as well as both the other artiste I said Nadira because when an artiste can make you hate her, she is the solo star.
