’’Dil Chahta Hai’’ is a movie which isone of a kind. Their has been none like it so far, and it will be difficult to replicate its quality in the near future.
This film is based on the modern city life of India, and so the film was a huge success in the cities but did not enjoy so much success in the rural areas. But this directorial debut of Farhan Akhtar is a classic. It deals with the lives of 3 seemingly ’’unseparable’’ friends, and traces the course of their friendship through the thick and thin of their love life and their careers.
Akshay Khanna, Ameer Khan and Saif Ali Khan gives superb performances as the 3 young men caught in the web of modern day life which tears such good friends apart. But in the true spirit of most hindi films, they are reunited at the end.
Preity Zinta and Sonali Kulkarni are stunning. In fact almost everybody has performed exceedingly well in this film, except for Dimple Kapadia, who is disappointing.
The film boasts of some great music and should be a treat to all urban Indian movie lovers.
