Dil Chahta is another showcase for glorious Shankar-Ehsaan-Loys talents.
The song Tanhai really stands out in the class of the Shankar-Jaikishan classic Dil ke Jharokon Mein Tujhko Bithaakar from Bramhachari, in its ability to convey pathos and anger. When was the last time we had a song that conveyed anger so well? Right from the time the bass guitar kicks in, the mood of the song is insistent, compelling and sad.
The title track will be the most played track on the album - fine instrumentation and of course, Shankar has already proved his calibre as a singer. Alka Yagnik excels on the breezy Jaane Kyon Log Pyaar Karte Hain.
Woh Ladki Hain Kahan -- another good song (i suspect with a tune picked from the Corrs?), but you really have to watch the movie to enjoy the song. Akashs theme and the Goa theme are also well done instrumentals, though once again the impact is much higher if you have seen the film. The one song that is a bit of a downer is Kaisee Hain Yeh Rut, but then overall DCH is a terrific buy.
