Best Film Of bollywood by far! (UPDATED REVIEW)

The Review I always wanted to write but after I watched this movie for the 70th time I had to write about it. This was the first Indian movie in cinema that I enjoyed when I was a kid. I must say if it wasn’t for this movie I would not go to the cinemas to watch Indian movies at all. When Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge came out, it became a rage. No one could stop talking about it; Pirated VHS came out for the movie a month later because no one could go watch this movie as everywhere it was sold out. I remember staying over at my uncles house with my family and they had the pirated VHS of this movie and the copy was so bad but everyone were still glued to the TV and watching this movie like nothing else I seen before. Off-course I had the chance to try to book tickets for this movie first day first show my Dad could only get a show two weeks later. The queue for this film was like never seen before. The cinema I went to was the biggest in London at that time and had one of the biggest screens I have seen, but yet the queue for this movie ran down the road, causing traffic jams and traffic on the main roads. Evan when I got out the cinema, already for the next show the queue ran down the road again. It was like that for at least 4-5 Months until the movie died down after a year. After a year the movie still had more than half the audience there. Some came to watch the movie later because they still had not seen it and some kept coming back. I was one person who came back to watch the movie, this movie stands as my own personal record of watching an Indian movie the most time in cinemas. I went to watch DDLJ 5 times in cinema.

As I finally watched this movie I still remember being excited for this movie even tho it had the biggest hype and most amazing word of mouth I have heard before. Going into watching it my expectation was really high but yet again I said to myself “no way can a movie be that great how people are talking about it”. Guess what? The movie went way above my expectations and became one of the greatest movies of all time that I have seen. The reason DDLJ works is because of the magic it brings on screen, it is just really magical and the movie gives you Goosebumps. If you ever want to know what love is go watch DDLJ, I really do not have any words even today to explain this movie of the magic and the love it shows between Raj and Simrun. The scene that really got me was when Raj and Simrun Parts at the station in London and Raj tells Simrun that he will not come to her wedding and the Ho gaya hai tujhko song plays....Simrun see’s Raj in the rain playing his Guitar....She gets out under her shelter of the rain..And walks into the heavy rain and embraces raj. Thats when you know she has got it bad. Evan today for a love story in today’s time you will not see that, people may try it but they never get it as right and perfect as DDLJ. Also with the title of the movie it made sense to way it is called DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE, the movie had family values, and it had the cross between new generation and old generation.

The Music for this movie is the backbone of this movie ever song in this movie is awsome, and became big songs, Tujhe Dekha (Still played today as one of the best romantic songs made), Doli Sajake Rakna (still played today in weddings), Hogaya Hai Tujko (my favourite song of all time and considered a classic) Mere Kwabho Main (Kajols trademark song, also a classic) Zara Sa, Ruk Ja, And Ghar aja Pardesi all classic tracks, in other words all songs in this album are classics.

Acting wise no one could have played Raj as well as shahrukh khan, or simrun as Kajol, both these two have the best on screen chemistry I have ever seen. Amrish Puri is also very very good in this movie. The movie leaves you routing for both Raj and Simrun wanting to see them together. Other movies you do not really care who ends up with whom but in this movie you actually route for these two to find happiness being with each other. All I can say is I have never heard the cinema get up on their feet and clap when Raj grabs simruns hand at the end and take simrun in the train. That is how much everyone was into this movie. It really was a movie that came once in a lifetime...and in my view one of bollywoods best movies ever made.
