I went to the TATA SKY dealer for purchase, he showed me all +ve things on TATA SKY. I found the quality is like cutting frames sometimes. Then I asked him for DISHTV comparison with TATA SKY, he said DISHTV is very bad.Still, I went to a DISHTV dealer for checking the quality for myself. I find the quality is better than TATA SKY, and also the installation charges are 200/- only. So, I purchased the DISHTV. It took three days for the guy to come and do the installation(indian labour pay !). After he installed, my settop box got damaged due to my fault with the plugging the box flex box at home. It took a 1day time to get immediate replacement as the warranty is for one year. Now, the prolem is with the new box having different serial number and the subscriber number being different, it took five more days for me to have the exact mapping of the serial number and the subscriber number be done. Then still I have a problem, I was not getting some TV channels for which iam subscribed to - SONY, ZEETV, CNNIBN, TIMESNOW, HBO. I logged in to the website and done an immediate subscription for the channels which I was not getting as per the packages. The channels have been activated with in 3/4 hours, but still I have the problem with the billing from the accounting who has mistakenly charged me for the online subscribed channels which are supposed to be free.So, the struggle still continues(more than 3 months) ...Iam sure the issues do come and will be resolved.
Another issue is with the renewal of package: The current package is supposed to be expire on DEC31, 2006 and I did renew in the online web login, but instead of considering for renwal after DEC31st, it has renewed from DEC15th the date when I have submitted for renewal. So the expiry for the new package has been JAN15, 2007 instead of JAN31st , 2007.I have attached the snapshot which indicates this web error. If such issues get resolved in the web software, then probably there shall be no pain with the customer care. The positive side is the web based billing details is very helping in providing the itemized billing details.I dont think TATA SKY has this feature yet !
I would vote for DISHTV over TATA SKY since the DISHTV prices has come down competitive to TATA SKY. ZEE PREMIER, ZEE ACTION, ZEE CLASSIC are very good movie channels with no advertisements. I liked the FONT of the Interactive screen on the DISHTV compared to TATA SKY. TATA SKY has bolded and big font, due to which the programs and titles are stretching beyond the line. Web access and easy payment except for customer care is slow ! Movie on Demand has very less short breaks(shows coming up movie trialers) and has 4 movies changing every thursday.
I can switch between the audio HINDI/ENGLISH for some channels - POGO/CARTOON NETWORK etc whichever channel is applicable for support of HINDI/ENGLISH version, I can just toggle between the audio by click of the remote audio button. I CAN HAVE THE FM RADIO COMPLETE @ home !! DishTV gives most of the FM Radio on TV channel numbers. Timer setting for a certain programme to be watched on today !
