Good picture/sound ! Worst CustomerService !

I took dishtv connection a year and half back. I have opted for Dish Maxi ( Rs. 300/month) package.The picture & sound quality are exceptional. EPG (electronic programming guide) is really useful.Some problems with user equipment:

  1. you can not really organize channels according to your wish ( as you do on normal cable tv).

So, either you have to create something called favorites and press some more buttons to watch your favourite group of channels. This can be really cumbersome job especially if elders are using tv at home.

  1. Dishtv logo pops all the time (all channels) at below-right corner of your tv. this is something I would not like to have. ( already they are doing enough advertisements )

  2. They keep on updating the set top box software via satellite. So, after sometime, some of the buttons on remote control will be non-functional or of no use.

Now coming to actual customer service.


If you ever happen to visit their website, you see 10+ telephone numbers provided for customer service !!!!!  Initially it was just a toll-free number, but now they have many just confuse customer or restrain customers from making any calls.


If you try any number and get a line, then you must be very lucky person. Most of the time, lines will be out of service or busy. Only line which is open/available 24hrs ihe PAYMENT service line !!!! :-)

Now, as i rely mostly on online services for utility payments, I have used dishtv site. I must tell you best way is not to use online service and goto dealer for payment if you are free.


Whenever you make a payment via credit card, the payment gateway just gets timed out !!! This is happening from more than year !!!  And BEWARE, don`t even try to make one more payment thinking previous transaction is failed !!  This where dish tv has got a technology which cannot be found anywhere !! This is a catch !!! Just wait for 2 days and you see that amount is actually deducted from your credit card !!!!!!!!!!!!!


Actually I happened try 2nd and 3rd time and page got timed out  and then I see my credit card charged 3 times !!!!Now, I send a mail regarding this to customer care, but you get a reply saying it will be resolved with 24hrs. Sorry 24 days !! 24 months !! or 24 years !!! ?????


I have not got reply later Now, you take your telephone and keep trying customer care phone number for any of above problem !!! If you get the line and problem is solved, congratulations !! then you are the few of millions who have missed the actual thrill !!!!


Anyways, don`t wanna show much of my frustration with dishtv customer service in this review.  I don`t know about tata sky much so can not compare. Bye bye.
