My blood boils as I write this. I hide my anger while talking to these people on phone, unless I start barking and hurling abuses at that them. I usually try to find some positive points when I write a review here on Mouthshut but I have to be blunt that DISH TV is by far the worst company I have ever come across. Their product and service is so pathetic that I have actually stopped watching TV at home and prefer watching my shows on the internet.
Been facing this dilemma since 6 months -
Was happy with my previous 7 star set top box - no confusing plans and almost all channels were available for a moderate amount. Service is top notch. Set top box is sleek looking and picture quality is sharp and clear. That to in my old 32 inch Sony LCD. However it is only available in Western suburbs of Mumbai.
Due to change in residence we opted for dish tv. Now despite having a better 42 inch LED TV, picture and sound quality is a big step down. Set top box looks cheap. Audio quality is boomy.
Even installing and getting the service activated is a herculean task like in a typical red tapism infested govt office.
The website is confusing. Despite depositing the cheques on time, they disconnect he service citing late payment. Staff is slow and sluggish and dont comprehend well.
The dish tv website is utter cr*p. Ala carte option is just hogwash. It is a task to subscribe to channels either from the tv or even if you call the customer care.
They will compel you curtly to choose your preferences online - or coax you to upgrade to a pack.
Contacting the customer care is another big problem - though polite they are of little help.
All in all their is no coordination between customer care and website. The web site is nonfunctional and you will never get through any option. It is easier to win a marathon than doing anything online in dish tv.
The bone of contention is that I have been unsuccessful in subscribing to channels of my choice till today. The customer care only directs me to do online which ultimately never happens. They are poorly trained and on complaining they behave rudely.
I just feel like taking that set top box and smashing it out of the window right now.
I have stopped watching TV. Want to upgrade to Tata sky as soon as the subscription is over. Every time a technician comes home it is a paid visit.
A dishonest company that fleeces customers of their hard earned money. Confusing and pathetic service. And come on having SRK as brand ambassador? Are we fools to believe if he promotes it? Never ever buy this - better off to buy a good internet plan and watch your shows online. My TV is a show piece!
