Once again, I set out for my journey to enjoy my vacation to Konkan. This time with my family to Diveagar. I had already made my reservations in "Anandyatri" resort owned by Mr. Bhatawadekar. Also I had my 9 month old daughter travelling with me so I was a bit more concerned about her diet. But Mr. Bhatwadekar was modest enough to promise allow my wife to cook whatever she liked for my daughter.
We left Pune at around 8:00 AM in the morning via Mulshi-Tamhini-Mangaon. Road till Mulshi was outstanding as we covered the entire 40 KMS stretch in about 40 mins but then it was testing time for me. The road ahead was pathethic (no other word for it). I was really worried about my WagonR. The remaining 65 KMS till Mangaon were just pathetic. As I had to reach Diveagar before 12:30 so that my daughter could have her lunch at the original timings, we had decided not to take any halts in between. We were at Mangaon at around 10:45. From Mangaon we took the road to Mhasla from the NH-17 H/w. Now it really pains me to ever write the condition of the road till Mhasla. This time it was most ever pathetic road I had ever seen. I would say it was a walk path with not a single pinch of tar on the road. The stretch from Mangaon to Mhasla is only 25 KMS but it took me 1.5 Hr to reach Mhasla. Thanks to the road, I had a tier flat. I replace the tier with the stepnie and would have travelled about another 3-4 KMS and lo the same tier was again punctured. The only luck which I had was the "puncture wala" was just 200 meters. To add to my pains he there were already 2-3 vehicles with the same pains my WagonR had. It took me another 1 hr to get my tiers "repaired" and we left to Diveagar. It was already 1:45 PM.
Diveagar was just 23 kms from that spot but as the road ahead was good we covered the distance in just 25 mins. We reach diveagar at 2:15. I had already made a call to "Anandyatri" about our late arrival. When we reached Anandyatri, Mr. Bhatawadekar greeted us and we were shown our room. The rooms were very clean and very spacious. To my surprise Mr. Bhatawadekar had give us the room which was attached to the kitchen so that my wife could cook for my daughter anytime she wanted. My wife quickly cooked for my daughter, fed her and we were off to our lunch. As my wife does not eat fish she had a very pleasant lunch with a Maharashtrian cum Konkani cruisine at Mr. Limayes residence attached to Anandyatri. But if you are a fish lover like me and a cook like Mr. Bhatawadekar then you can enjoy fish like anything. I was surprised to hear that Mr. Bhatawadekar cooked fish by himself. The fish were delicious as was the food. After a hearty lunch I was immediately off to bed.
We woke up at around 5:00 and left for the beach. The beach was wonderful and safe. As it was the year end days it was a bit crowded but still the crowd was quite decent which made the place more enjoyable.
The next couple of days were spent lazily with visits to the Ganpati Mandir ("Sonyacha Ganpati"). A small but a very good ganpati temple. Apart from the the beach and the temple there is nothing else to see in the village. I would suggest that if someone wants to have a lazy time, relaxing diveagar is the best spot. People are very friendly. I would also suggest for everyone to try out Anandyatri. Also to our luck, we also had a very good relationships with the other tourists and had a very good time with all of them. We felt like we are at home. Please see below the details of "Anandyatri" below.
