Diya Aur Baati hum is a serial which began with the wedding of two people, Sandhya and Suraj who are very different from each other. Sandhya who wanted to become an IPS officer and Suraj was an uneducated man who used to run a sweet shop. The couple had many differences but their goodness and love for each other made them strong through time. They would both stand up for each other. They live in a joint family, respect their elders and pamper their younger s. Simple story of a simple family, this serial became a favorite in most of the houses. I used to watch it religiously everyday and if missed an episode I would watch the repeat telecast.
But ever since the character of Sandhya became an IPs officer, the serial became something very different. They started showing Sandhya’s character like some superhero, she started fighting off terrorists, going undercover, doing unimaginable things. The story went overboard and it became pathetic. the serial lost the one thing that made it stand out, the simplicity ans sweetness that their relationship represented. When I used to watch this serial, I liked the acting of Deepika Singh, Neelu Vaghela and Kanika Maheshwari.
A few years ago, this serial was my favorite, now I can not tolerate this for one minute.
