Yes, Mirangue what a sensuos dance.. The one thatll stick to your mind for a long long time.. the rythmic music and those curvey young ladies moving their bodies to the tune in such a way you would never think possible.
Dominican Republic is an Island which has recently become more popular because of an increase in tourists around the area.. mainly due to the increase in crusing holidays. A lot of the cruise liners use Dominican Republic as a base.
I went on a stay and cruise holiday in 1998 - staying in the DR for the first four days then cruise for seven days (on MS CARNIVAL) and another stay for 3 days before flying back home.
DR people are very friendly and courteous, always smiling regardless of the poverty they suffer. DR is a poor country and their main income is from the tourist trade, with the second biggest earner being sugar cane (most of that is exported to the USA).
DR has some beautiful white sandy beaches on the south of the island and the weather comparable to here - Hot during the afternoons but then who cares as long as you have a nice long cold drink in your hand and you are lying by the pool.
Most of the hotels operate the all-inclusive packages which means you do get stuck to the hotel food! BUT... you should still try and venture out for meals at least a couple of times...
The Island is also famous for Cigars and Rum, try visiting the factories, free booze and cigars! you cant go wrong.
Whatever you do, dont forget to get me a bottle of rum (I can get the coke here!), and a box of those famous cigars!
Have a great holiday if you go there...
.... Bon Voyage
