Regardless of what some critics say, Don 2 is an entertainer and a paisa vasool experience. Its not an earth-shattering movie and thats probably because it is rare I would say that about any movie and I dont want to raise anyones expectations sky high but the bottomline is that this is one movie that I can safely recommend.
Shah Rukh Khan carries the movie on his shoulders and he has shown that, no matter what character he plays, he makes it look cool. And this movie gives him plenty of opportunity to do just that. Some critics may crib that it is an overdose of Bollywood 101 where the protagonist escapes in one piece(just about always?) no matter how perilous the situation he is confronted with. But what if you can make it look cool while doing it?
Also, I remember one critic not being satisfied by the pace of movie. If anything, the pace of the movie was spot on and unflinching. There was no dull moment with the movie essentially revolving around Shah Rukh Khans cleverly woven character. The other characters, to be honest, do not get a great deal of screen time in comparison to Shah Rukhs but no one should be complaining about that.
Among other performances, Priyanka Chopras is the one worth mentioning first up. She is probably the countrys best female action star if one were to draw up such a list and she lives up to the "junglee billi" tag like no ones business. As unputdownable as Shah Rukh in real life and also a very close friend of his, she is sometimes described as the female Shah Rukh Khan. Clearly, it is an epithet she deserves as her energy balanced with panache is decidedly visible on screen.
As for Boman Irani, he is a man who continues his inspirational story as someone who started acting in his forties and yet skyrocketed up the pecking order when it comes to being chosen to play plum b-town characters. He essays the role of Dons nemesis convincingly and looks the part carrying out unscrupulous deeds.
