"Duniya me logon ne dil apne phir thame....aaya hun lekar main kitne hi hungaame".
Yeah the King (Khan) is back and this time in the Emperors (Big B) Shoes...but no marks for guessing that shoes doesnt fit. Let us assume that it is a fresh movie and forget for the moment that it is actually a remake.Im saying this because I havent seen the old DON in full stretch and I dont remember the movie scene by scene. Goin by our assumption the movie is above average with few moments of excellence by Director Farhan Akhtar. The Designer clothes, foreign locales add to the beauty of the movie. But in between it looses the grip and makes u feel bored. That should not be tha case in toadys scenario.SRK has done a decent job in his dual role (again goin by our assumption) I think enough assumption has been made. Now it is a time to face the harsh reality. The new DON is a remake of late 70s classic Amitabh starrer DON. So the comparisions r nothin but obvious. STORY: The story of the new DON is almost similar to the original one with few additional twist n tales by Farhan, but unfortunately those twists in the plot has made the movie crippled in many respects. The Climax was a new one n instead of makin the movie stronger it had made it far weaker. U will feel being fooled for 3 hrs after seeing the climax. MUSIC: Two songs were the remix version of the original DON. Original "Khiake Paan banaras waala" was far far better than the latest crap."Yeh mera dil" is comparable. Amongst new songs the title track is soothin to the ears but rest of them can be easily ignored. ACTING: U wont get bigger than this. Farhan had the support of the SRK factor, arguably biggest star after Amitabh, SRK was playin the role which former has done with charm, elegance and panache. But SRK fails miserbly in the attempt. When he is donning DONs role the voice makeover is pathetic, facial expressions were artificial, he tried hard to look (and sound) like a Underworld King but all goes in vain. He could have taken a leaf out of Big Bs book that to look DON Uve to show the attitude and that was missing somewhere. When he was playin Small Town Boy he was hamming all round. Priyanka has justified Zeenats role. She look stunning and done few martial arts acts as well. All u guyz should look forward to a Martial art Fight with Priyanka...it wud be fun. Boman Irani as always has done a commendable job. Om puri was wasted in such a miniature role. Arjun Rampal has made his presence felt in the Friendly appreance. Watch out for sizziling Kareena shakin her heart out (and few other parts of the body as well) in the original Helens master piece. She is really HOTTTTT. U wont get eyes away from her. GIST: As I said before if ull compare the two DONs ( which u shud...unless u r nuts) then the original one is far better bet for more reasons than one. Amitabh is the real DON, and nobody (even SRK) can take the pride of sayin "DON ki talaash 11 Mulkon ki Police ko hia". Farhan has used his brain in givng a new shape to the old DON but he failed in his brave effort. Better luck next time Farhan. Harjeets Verdict: "DON ka Remake banana mushkil hi nahi Namumkin hia"
