A couple of points first..
Not at all like the original Don... this ones a diff movie altogether
So, any comparisons are pointless...
Therefore, go with an open mind, with no presumptions...
By keeping the expected, throwing in a few unexpected parts, Farhan Akhtar has managed to make this remake his own, in a way..
Its got all the immortal dialogues of the Don of 78... and a few new ones..
Its got the 2 songs that define Don... Paan Banaraswala and Yeh Mera Dil.... without these, Dons incomplete... and am sure any attempt to change the compositions would really fall flat.. so theyve been remixed...
SRK as Don 06 gives Don the style, the hip image, the attitude that people relate to a sauve gangster, pretty much prevelant in hindi cinema these days.. SRK as Vijay, well.. is very SRK...
Boman Irani is fast proving that hes not just "Dr. J dot Asthana!" Got almost as much screen time as Don himself.. As De Silva, hes done a pretty cool job!
Isha Koppikar looks hot as usual... Kareena looks great too (tho, shes there only for the song).. But the show-stopper is Priyanka Chopra... at her hottest best here...
Om Puri, Arjun Rampal in their roles were, sadly, wasted...
Special effects are cool.... The music is decent... The 2 remixes kinda gel in with the film... The title track is something that grows on you...
No use giving away the plot here... the movie wont be any fun then...
Also, tho, there are a few loopholes, u can live with those, coz in return u are getting entertainment like it should be..
After all, thats why we go to movies... especially such out and out masala movies...
So, I would say, a one time watch movie which can be enjoyed if Don 78 is not thought of...
and ya.. Farhans managed to get the "OHenry twist" in the movie... made the Rs 200 ticket worth it!
