Don is a remake of 1978 Don. It is remaked with a slight change in the story.It has got very good opening.I had also gone to see DON.My expectations touch new high with the slik promos of the don.But after watching Don, I have no doubt in saying that new Don cannot be compared to old Don.I am not saying that new Don is a bad film but the advantages of the old Don over new Don is that it has Amitabh Bachchan, great music and good background score.If Don wasn’t a remake it would have been a great film.
There are many defects in the film too.Somewhere SRK is saying ’Hum’ and somewhere ’Main’. Why did Shahrukh Khan fights with Arjun Rampal? This is not explained in the film.
In the end an unusual development take place and after sometime another unusual development take place which is senseless.
CAST PERFORMANCE
As far as performance is consider, Shahrukh Khan does a good job but he doesn’t shine as much as in his previous films.
Priyanka Chopra really looks very good in one action scene.Except that she doesn’t impress very much.However she is good in whatever she is given and better than Zeenat Aman.
Isha Kopapikar has a short role in the film but she looks preity.
Karena Kapoor is in special appearance.She doesn’t looks good in the role of Helen.
Boman Irani doesn’t shine compare to his previous movies.
Arjun Rampal wife dies but his face and expression doesn’t reflect the sadness.
MUSIC
Two songs taken from the previous movie has not much of business and Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t look as good as Amitabh Bachchan in Banaras Babu.But overall music is very good specially ’Maurya Re’ and ’Aaj Ki Raat’ songs and already top on the charts.
DIRECTION
Farahan Akhtar tries to be supercool.His direction is not good.
However Don has got a remarkable opening because of festive season-Diwali and Id.It will do well at big centres but at small centres it will turned out to be failure.At oversees it will definately do well.
Overall, DON is a fine film but not a must watch.
