The wait has fiiiiiiiiinally ended! Don has released and fortunately it meets all the expectations!
The story of the movie: It’s a time when the drug trade is at an all time high. There is lots of drug trafficking going on between Asia and Europe. The drug traffickers have made Kuala Lampur their heaquarters. This drug business is headed by a great mastermind. He minded this business with the help of Don (Shahrukh Khan). Don is a man who can never be arrested. According to him “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai”(It is not difficult to catch Don, its impossible!). He was intelligent, fearless, cunning and ruthless and he sees that no one stops him in expanding his business. Two Indians are on his trail, DCP DeSilva (Boman Irani) and Malik (Om Puri). DCP DeSilva has taken a vow that he would put an end to this nexus. And one day he succeeds. He captures Don. But this was not known to his own department. He secretly puts his plan into action. He trains Vijay, who is a spitting image of Don and tells him to go back into Don’s gang and give him all the information. Things were working quite well. But unfortunately, this plan starts spoiling and everything gets wrong.
Don is made quite stylishly, and Farhan succeeds in recreating the same magic created by the old Don. It has everything to entertain the viewers. Performance by everyone rocks and everyone has done a hard work to present a cool performance. Music is rocking, action rocks, cinematography is rocking, direction, sound design, songs; everything is perfect and rocking in the movie.
So, no cons? No flaws? Unfortunately no. Don has some shortcomings. It is tooo slow in the first half. Plus, there are flaws in some scenes too. But the majority of pros cover up the flaws in your mind when you come out of the theatre!
There are some differences in the old Don and the new Don. New Don is completely hi-tech, while Old Don was not. Secondly, the climax of new Don is completely different from old Don. This climax of new Don is completely unpredictable and it will give you one of the biggest shocks of your life!!!!
Shahrukh Khan.… Well, what can I say about him. He is one of the best actor of the world! Give him any role and he would play it without any problem and with ease. SRK’s performance in Don is one of the best performances in his career! And plus, he is playing two characters here and it was no easy task as both characters are completely different from each other. Yet, he rocks! Great work, SRK! We are proud of you!
Priyanka Chopra as Roma is quite impressive. She maintains a steady position of her own, in between so many talented actors like SRK, Boman Irani, Om Puri etc. Ishaa Koppikar as Anita looks sexy and performs marvelously. While watching her, we feel her character is wasted. But we come to know the purpose of her role in the fully suprising climax. Though her role in this movie may not help her to achieve great success in her career, she is likeable.
Kareena Kapoor as Kamini gives a sexy performance, though her role was just a guest apperance. Arjun Rampal as Jasjit looks charming and performs in an excellent manner. Boman Irani was superb! He has a brief role in the movie and from the starting till the end, he gives a great performance. Om Puri was okay. His character was not difficult to play and anyone could have played it easily.
Pavan Mallhotra (who played the role of Tiger Menon in Black Friday) performs as his role demanded. Chunkey Pandey was in a special apperance in the beginning. Rajesh Khattar (who played the role of Parbatlal in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin) as Singhania was only in one scene. Others do a good job.
Angelo Sahin’s action was new age and completely different from other Bollywood movies. Sound Design was excellent. Mohanan’s cinematography is marvelous and captures the rural Indian areas and urban Malaysia in a superb manner.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music is too good. Each song in the movie rocks and its quite soothing. All the songs ‘Main Hoon Don’, ‘Morya Morya Re’, ‘Yeh Mera Dil’, ‘Aaj Ki Raat’, ‘Khaike Pan Banaraswala’ are outstanding.
Farhan Akhtar’s direction is too good. He has handled the whole movie properly, though he fails to handle it in some parts. But on the whole, his direction is likeable. It is difficult to believe that this is the same Farhan who had directed a simple movie like Dil Chahta Hai!
Some of the rocking scenes of the movie:
Don’s entry in the beginning
The scene where DeSilva chases Don on a beach
The scene where DeSilva chases Vijay and Roma in Malaysia
The scene where Roma comes to know the truth about Vijay
The scene where Vijay is arrested by Malik
The scene where Vijay jumps from the plane (Damn cool scene)
The song ‘Khaike Paan’ and ‘Ye Mera Dil’
The scene where Jasjit escapes from the clutches of DeSilva (awesome scene!)
The last 20 minutes of the movie
On the whole, Don rocks! It has everything needed for a masala entertainer. It is bit slow in the first half and that’s the only problem with Don. It is a worthy remake of the old Don and should not be missed!

P.S. Don’t read the review of Taran Adarsh on Don. He had completely lost it. He gave *1/2 to KANK and to Don, so does he mean to say that KANK is better than Don?
And lastly, wishing all the MS Members HAPPY DIWALI and a prosperous NEW YEAR!
