But after you watch it will be like ..."Is naye Don ko JHELNA mushkil hi nahin namumkin hai!"
SRK falls flat.. pity him....Frahan Akhtar makes a collage of every possible slick flick..and forgets that even the audience have access to movies that he keeps lifting scenes from.. Matrix MI2 Scarface Italian Job Face/Off ...are the ones that he has been taken frame by frame....C’mon Farhan, .. is this all you have/know after "Dil Chahta hai"?
Farhan must have done a lot of research before doing this movie.. he would have got insights.. "there are no plots in movies these days".. and there goes our Farhan weaving plot into plot which is part of a bigger plot...which again is meshed ito another plot.. wow!!
The damn movie never ends....Throughout the movie.. Frahan doesnt allow you sit back and watch the movie.. It is a thoughtful movie...only for the audience....as they have to keep thinking which plot meets which one.
Pre movie interviews guided us to think that if ABs DON was in the curent age... what kind of gadgets he would use.. how he would look.. and blah blah....but AB would have struggled to think through so many un ending plots!!.
I tried spotting some good things in the movie.. here they go:
Cinematography is brilliant, SRK had said- this movie bridges the gap between hollywood and bollywood movies...yes true..because the scenes are frame to copy of hollywood flicks and where ever there is indeginization..it is jarring!!
Music is slick too.. but the Medival Punditz version of the title track has been overplayed..Farhan uses this music to indiacte the audience that "Now the Don is making a strategy"" :-)
The title song has been picturized welll..SRK looks good...and the champagne surf on his face adds to attitude.
SRK..approaches this new DON with an attutude of
"THIS HAS TO BE BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL DON"
’’I WILL NOT LOOK COPYING ANYTHING FROM AB"
’I WILL BE REMEMBERED AS THE DON"
And these are parameters he sets for himself.. and these take toll on him..Farhan has treid to control SRK’s overacting but has failed miserably....The use of the Bhojpuri..lingo is just injected in and does nothing to take the narrative forward.
Priyanka chopra does justice to a neat role...but we didnot see enough of her action scenes as claimed by her in promo interviews...these people tell lies ya...
Boman Irani..switches roles well but he cant do much as the length of his role is not balanced betwees the cop and the bad guy..
Arjun Rampal...dont know what to say abt this guy...thik hai...he could not have done much even if was given a well crafted role....Pran was pran in the original. Don. In fact I am happy for Akshay Kumar who was offered this role
Scenes to watch out for:
Reverse gear racing by SRK..good stunts by Allan Amin
Picturization of the Title song...followed by the gun battle..
Picturization of "Yeh mera dil" by Kareena Kapoor..She isnt 1/2 as good as Helen..but who cares.
Costumes to watch out for:
1.SRK’s printed pink shirt in "Yeh mera dil"
2.SRK’s polka dot (small) greyshirt in "Khaike pan bana.." 3.Ladies may like those longish skirts of the Chopra girl and Kareena...I dont know...:-)

SRK’s polka dot shirt: Buy
Anyways.....Dhoom2 seems to be..the next best style movie. Hrithik sports a chiselled look...’Tanned" bodies are in....But, Aditya Chopra should have retained Rimi Sen!!....Aish isnt all that $^*%.
