Doordarshan is the oldest TV channel in India.It is India’s national television network.It was very popular when these Star, zee channels were not there .
That time it was the only channel on Indian television.
It is still very popular in small towns and villages, in big cities people hardly watch DD programmes as they have endless options from other paid channels.
I use to watch DD news regularly in my school days.Some of its programmes were too good .The thing I like most about Doordrashan is its social messages like " save the girl child ", etc,
These short clips or programmes with social messages are very important and have a good effect on people who are illiterate and do not have much idea about many things .
So in a way good things can be taught to them via these programmes.Regarding its other programmes like daily soaps or serials, I do not watch them so have no idea about them .But I can say its news and social message programmes are good.
