A thought for you

Don’t suffocate girl child and her parents**.

We are aware of social stigma attached to the birth of girl child. Showing this stigma on visual media will enhance it and have following consequences-

1-those who don’t mind having a girl child will also come to know about it.

2-parents of a girl child will feel embarrassed for having a girl child.

3-parents of a male child would feel proud to have a male child as if they had a prize catch.

Results are clear; people would not want a girl child. This is exactly opposite to our goal.

We must glorify parenting of a daughter by showing what glories could be attached to it  instead of stigmatizing it further by showing what types of stigmas could be attached to it.

Depiction should not be made so much direct on our faces and be kept subtle. This will slowly but definitely brain wash viewers in favor of girl child.

I would like to illustrate this with some examples taken from our very own DD1

Situation a- father of the groom telling father of the bride “beti faqeer ki ho ya badshah ki kandhe sub ke jhuke hi rahte hain(visual from serial chiriya da chamba, this clipping is shown so frequently that every viewer must have learned it by now.)

Situation b- grandmother scolding daughter in law “beti paida karne se kuch nahi hoga mujhe pote ka muh dekhna hai

Situation c- A marriage ceremony in progress, one of girl’s relative blurts out “hum toh ladki wale hain humko to jhukna hi padega”

Numerous such statements could be heard on media, they leave the parents of a girl child heavy in heart.

On the other hand, there are

visuals which allow them to held their head high-

Situation 1- a proud father telling his friend “my daughter have to take care of entire city, she is DM of the city.”

Situation 2-there is one perfect family picture, an effluent handsome couple with their gorgeous daughter. Wife fondly narrating her experiences about a contraceptive pill “when we wanted a child I stopped taking the pill and then came our beautiful daughter in our life. This was our choice, what is yours? ”

There are very few such examples available.

Now imagine yourself in place of a parent, which of these images elicit the desire of having a girl child? If u really wants to help girl child and her parents, choice is all yours.

Media have a very powerful impact on human mind, we must use it thoughtfully.
