How many times have we we felt that Bollywood movies are more flake than anything? Doesn’t matter. I for one love it. I had decided based on my close friends suggestions to avoid serious movies that
one should not be bothered when not required. But can’t help when somebody from the same group copies over 100 Bollywood DVDs on my Laptop HD.
Why did I pick up this movie to be the first among the collection of over 100 excellent Hindi DVD prints? May be bcoz of Nagesh Kukunoor. Somewhere someone mentioned that this is a remake of a Malayalam movie. I would care less. As long as you can connect to the characters in the movie and flow with the pace, everything else is insignificant.
Dor
Ok coming back to DOR. Its a simple story about two women who love their husbands to the core. One from Himachal Pradesh trying to save her husband from the murder that he MIGHT have committed and the other the widow of the VICTIM.
The script is woven really well with some religious angles involved. Good job on the part of the Director to handle the emotional parts. Nagesh, I just wish film making is taken more seriouly as you take it.
Excellent narratiion. Photography ka KYA KEHNA? Two states that I love immensely. because of their natural beauty. I have never visited KERALA which they(don’t ask me WHO?) say is the most exotic place in India. But I visited Rajasthan many times before. For me Rajasthan is the most exotic place in terms of Tourism. Another could be Himachal. But now for me it turns out to be Uttaranchal.
Why mention these two states. Excellent cinematography to complement the storyline.
Coming back to preformances, Nagesh kukunoor as the villian Chopra is dent enough along with the kannada literary Girish Karnad and the Aurangabadi Prateeksha Lonkar. the countdown girl along side Kartiki Rane. Shreyas Talpade carries his stature from his previous performance in IQBAL. Mind blowing talent exhibition by Shreyas Talpade to keep his perfomance lingering on.
But the pick of the performance are that of Ayesha Takia and Gul Panag. Thats what I meant by the title. "Models can act too.!". Both Ayesha and Gul gave a lifetime performance. Am I going overboard. Not at all. Watch it for yourself.
The story is about Zeenat, as independent, confident Muslim girl in search of the wife of the murder of her husband’s victim who indicentally turns out to be a Hindu Rajput, both staying together in Saudi.
Since the time I heard the starting music, I was like "Waah.! Kitne saalon baad sunne ko mila ".
Kesariya . Baalam .!
Padharo Mhaare Des. Des Rey.!(heard this many times before, just can’t remember where and when?) damn it.;-(
Background music by Salim Sulaiman is amazingly addictive. The same tune over and over can keep you engrossed all the time.
Only one recommendation. if you get a chance to watch this movie, do not ever miss it/.
Although the drawbacks I felt were TakiaJi. you cannot be so pure with your Hindi to feel the authencity. Although your best scene was dancing on the street on Shankar’s b’day
PanagJi., You have great eyes. your eyes speak and your dialogue utterance is so fluent, continuous and effective that I cannot just stop but keep going on that yes "SOME MODELS CAN ACT TOOO."
The pick of the movie could be the cameo by Shreyas talpade but it turns out to be the two female leads especially Gul Panag in my view although it was very brave of Takia to accept such a role so early in her career. But Gul is absolutely different and effervescent than when I saw her in a school competition in Delhi.
Have Fun and do watch this good Bollywood movie when you get a chance.
